Who We Are
In 2014, a group of local, high-tech leaders started the Lower Columbia Tech Club. They wanted to create a place for tech enthusiasts to learn new skills, share their knowledge, and develop their passions. Founding members saw a regional need for enrichment opportunities in science and technology. Tech Club strives to fill this need through technology skills development and collaboration with local scientists, engineers, and technologists.
Tech Club is now a diverse, all-ages group that welcomes all new members. In order to keep Tech Club accessible to everyone, we keep our annual membership fees low. Meetings are facilitated by our amazing team of volunteers. These volunteers include technology professionals, hobbyists, and parents - all dedicated to sharing their knowledge and passion for technology with you.
What We Do
Tech Club’s weekly meetings provide the materials and guidance for hands-on science and technology activities for kids, teens, and adults. Here's a list of some of the fun and educational things we do at Tech Club:
- Build and program robots
- Compete in robotics competitions
- Create electrical circuits
- Program video games
- Make movies and digital animations
- Create digital art
- Print with 3D printers
- Design and build machines
Tech Club also hosts an Industry Night, where local science and technology professionals deliver brief presentations and tutorials. Industry Night is an opportunity for you to gain knowledge, learn a new skill, and see how technology is at work in our communities. Keep an eye on the News page for upcoming Industry Night events.
We meet at the Learning Centre at MIDAS, an MIT-certified fabrication lab and applied research facility. MIDAS is the perfect place for our members to see how state-of-the-art technology is changing our perception of what is possible.
